Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


Original and certified translation of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Consignments must be packed in commercial hermetically sealed packages or containers.

If the seeds were imported into Australia from a country in the European Union, and text permitting this is stated in the import permit, the text "THE SEEDS COME FROM [COUNTRY]" or "THE SEEDS WERE IN TRANSIT IN [COUNTRY]" can be added to the additional product description. [COUNTRY] must be the name of the country in the EU that the seeds either transited through or originated from prior to arrival in Australia. A scan of the phytosanitary certificate from a country in the EU, which can be traced to the seeds in the consignment, must be presented to to the department at time of authorisation in order for this text to be approved. To enable the field on the RFP, the exporter must submit a request to the EXDOC Plant Program via  (EXDOCPlantPrograms@aff.gov.au).

If required by the import permit, the exporter needs to provide a Seed Analysis Certificate issued by an ISTA accredited laboratory on a representative sample that certifies that the seeds:  
  • Are not infested or infected with live insects; 
  • Contain less than 0.1% of the lot weight in soil particles; 
  • Contain less than 5% of the lot weight in plant debris, including leaves, stems, and roots.
This certification will not be endorsed on the Phytosanitary Certificate. 

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Explanation of Endorsements

Endorsement 7570:

  • Melon fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f, sp, melonis) is not known to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • An area freedom certificate is required to endorse freedom from Cucurbit angular leaf spot (Pseudomonas syringae pv. lachrymans), Bacterial leaf spot of cucurbits (Xanthomonas cucurbitae), Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) and Bacterial fruit blotch of cucurbits (Acidovorax citrulli).

Endorsement 7571:

  • Melon fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f, sp, melonis) is not known to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • A crop inspection report is required to endorse freedom from Cucurbit angular leaf spot (Pseudomonas syringae pv. lachrymans), Bacterial leaf spot of cucurbits (Xanthomonas cucurbitae), Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV)  and Bacterial fruit blotch of cucurbits (Acidovorax citrulli).

Endorsement 7572:

  • Melon fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f, sp, melonis) is not known to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • A laboratory analysis certificate is required to endorse freedom from Cucurbit angular leaf spot (Pseudomonas syringae pv. lachrymans), Bacterial leaf spot of cucurbits (Xanthomonas cucurbitae), Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV)  and Bacterial fruit blotch of cucurbits (Acidovorax citrulli).


Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 7570)

1) Melon fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f sp melonis) is not known to occur in Australia.
2) Cucurbit angular leaf spot (Pseudomonas syringae pv lachrymans), Bacterial leaf spot of cucurbits (Xanthomonas cucurbitae), Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV)  and Bacterial fruit blotch of cucurbits (Acidovorax citrulli) are not known to occur in the area of production .

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 7571)

1) Melon fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f sp melonis) is not known to occur in Australia.
2) Crop was inspected during active growth and found free fromCucurbit angular leaf spot (Pseudomonas syringae pv lachrymans), Bacterial leaf spot of cucurbits (Xanthomonas cucurbitae), Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV)  and Bacterial fruit blotch of cucurbits (Acidovorax citrulli) .

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 7572)

1) Melon fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f sp melonis) is not known to occur in Australia.
2) A representative sample was found free through laboratory testing of Cucurbit angular leaf spot (Pseudomonas syringae pv lachrymans), Bacterial leaf spot of cucurbits (Xanthomonas cucurbitae), Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV)  and Bacterial fruit blotch of cucurbits (Acidovorax citrulli) are not known to occur in the area of production .
