A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

Consignments must be free of bark.

Board Products:
  • Import permit not required for new and unused board products.
  • Import permit required for used board produts.
  • Phytosanitary certificate not required for new and unused board products.
  • Phytosanitary certificate required for used board produts.

Low Risk Wooden Articles:
  • Import permit not required for new and unused industrially manufactured wooden articles.
  • Industrially manufactured wooden articles of Myrtaceae species or Coconut wood (Cocos nucifera) must meet the permit requirements specified under the Sawn Timber restriction - Phytosanitary certificate required.
  • Industrially manufactured wooden articles from Arecaceae, Pandanaceae and Sterculiaceae are prohibited

Fumigation:
  • Used board products must be treated to ISPM 15 specifications.
Heat treatment:
  • Used board products must be treated to ISPM 15 specifications.
  • All board products must have a moisture content of less than 25%.
  • After treatment, board products must be packaged and/or shipped in such a way as to prevent contamination by quarantine pests.
Low Risk Wooden Articles:
  • Treatment not required for industrially manufactured wooden articles with the exception of Myrtaceae species and Coconut wood (Cocos nucifera) must meet the treatment requirements specified under the Sawn Timber restriction.
  • Used industrially manufactured wooden articles must be fumigated or heat treated.

Fumigation:
  • 36gm/m3 for 2 hours at 21-26 degrees celsius.
OR
  • 42gm/m3 for 2 hours at 16-20 degrees celsius.

Fumigation must be undertaken within 21 days prior to export.

Heat treatment:
  • 70 degrees celsius at the core of the wood for at least 4 hours.
  • Heat treatment must be undertaken within 21 days prior to export.
  • Industrially manufactured wooden articles must have a moisture content of less than 20%.

After treatment, industrially manufactured wooden articles must be packaged and/or shipped in such a way as to prevent contamination by quarantine pests.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
