Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Consignments are to be accompanied by a weed analysis report or seed analysis certificate (containing the scientific name of each identified species of seed found in the representative sample, record of any unidentified genera or species, weight of sample examined, certify the absence of quarantine weed seeds) from an ISTA or AOSA accredited Laboratory.

Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.

Consignments are to be treated with insecticide - Chlorpyrifos - according to the manufacturers recommendations or an equivalent treatment.

Consignments are to be fumigated with:
  • Phosphine at 5grm/m3 for 7 days at or above 25 degrees Celsius.
OR
  • Methyl Bromide at 24 grm/m3 for 24 hours at 20-25 degree Celcius.
AND
  • Dusted with a broadspectrum fungicide - 80% Mancozeb, Tettramethylthiuram disulfide - according to the manufacturers recommendations.
The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
