Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Consignments are to be accompanied by a weed analysis report or seed analysis certificate (containing the scientific name of each identified species of seed found in the representative sample, record of any unidentified genera or species, weight of sample, certify the absence of quarantine weed seeds) from an ISTA or AOSA accredited Laboratory.

Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.

Consignments are to be fumigated with:

  • Phosphine at 5grm/m3 for 7 days at 25 degrees Celsius.

OR

  • Methyl bromide at 48grms / m3 for 3 hours at 20-25 degrees Celsius.

AND

Must be treated with one of the following listed broad spectrum fungicides at a rate of 2.5 grm/kgm of seed:

  • Carboxirn
  • Thiram
  • Thiabendazole (TBZ)
  • PCNB and Maneb

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
