Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

This ICR applies to seeds of Australian origin and seeds imported from other countries for export to Fiji that do not meet the re-export requirements and will need to be certified on an Australian phytosanitary certificate for export. For imported seeds that have arrived with a phytosanitary certificate from the exporting country that meets Fiji's import requirements, have remained sealed, and are being re-exported to Fiji, refer to the Solanum lycopersicum seed (Re-export) Micor case for Fiji.

If the seeds are not of Australian origin, the country of origin must be included in the additional product description field of the Request For Permit (RFP). To enable the field on the RFP the exporter must submit a request to the EXDOC Plant Programs via email (EXDOCPlantPrograms@aff.gov.au).

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 7840:

  • Applies to seeds of non-Australian origin which have been tested in Australia.
  • A laboratory analysis certificate endorsing test results of seeds by PCR methodology of Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) and Tomato mottle mosaic virus (ToMMV) is required as evidence to endorse freedom from the listed pests.
  • A laboratory analysis certificate endorsing test results of seeds by RT-PCR methodology of Potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTVd), Tomato chlorotic dward viroid (TCDVd) and Tomato apical stunt viroid (TASVd) is required as evidence to endorse freedom from the listed pests.
  • A laboratory analysis certificate endorsing test results of seeds by PCR or ELISA methodology of Pepino mosaic virus (PepMV), Tomato bushy stunt virus (TBSV), Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV), Tobacco ringspot virus (TRSV), Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) and Tomato mosaic virus (ToMV) is required as evidence to endorse freedom from the listed pests.
  • If required by the import permit, results of testing completed in Australia must be submitted to the NPPO of Fiji at cppo@baf.com.fj for verification prior to export. A copy of the email from the NPPO of Fiji confirming approval must be provided as evidence that the test results have been submitted to, and verified by, the importing country NPPO. 
Nil Endorsement:
  • Applies to seeds of Australian origin. 
Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

If required by the import permit, consignments are to be dried and dusted to excess with one of the following broad spectrum fungicides or equivalent:
  • Fludioxonil at 0.48grm per kg seed;

OR

  • Thiram 75 WP at 5grm per kg seed;

OR

  • Captan 75 WDP at 5grm per kg seed.
The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 7840)
1) A representative sample was found free through NPPO approved PCR testing of Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) and Tomato mottle mosaic virus (ToMMV).
2) A representative sample was found free through NPPO approved RT-PCR testing of Potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTVd), Tomato chlorotic dward viroid (TCDVd) and Tomato apical stunt viroid (TASVd).

3) A representative sample was found free through NPPO approved PCR or ELISA testing of Pepino mosaic virus (PepMV), Tomato bushy stunt virus (TBSV), Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV), Tobacco ringspot virus (TRSV), Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) and Tomato mosaic virus (ToMV).

Import permit dated 15 April 2024 and 27 February 2025.
