Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

Tubers must be brushed and clean, and substantially free from signs of pest and disease, soil and other impurities.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
 

Seed potatoes must be sourced from a nationally recognised seed potato certification scheme. Exporter to provide evidence of certification and present to the Authorised Officer at time of inspection.

Seed potatoes must be sourced from a reputable and registered seed supplier or association, and must have certification that: 

  • The seed crop is free from the pests and diseases stated in the additional declaration 
  • The field must have had no more than one potato crop over a minimum of 4 years and could be fumigated with a soil fumigant.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Consignment is to be treated with an appropriate insecticide and fungicide.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the department at time of authorisation.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 1395)
1) Ring rot (Clavibacter michiganensis subsp sepedonicus), Wart disease (Synchytrium endobioticum) and Potato nematode (Ditylenchus destructor) are not known to occur in Australia,

2) Potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTVd) is not known to occur in the area of production,

3) The crop from which seed tubers were harvested have been examined under certified seed production protocols and rules and found to be free from Potato cyst nematode (Globodera rostochiensis), Late blight (Phytophthora infestans) and Brown rot (Ralstonia solanacearum).
