Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


These importing country requirements are applicable to both green and yellow split peas (Pisum sativum).

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.


Exporter is to ensure any packing used is not hay, straw, chaff, or any decomposing material.

This ICR covers split peas and kibbled split peas.

Note: A phytosanitary certificate with nil additional declaration is to be issued if the consignment consists of peas of Australian origin.

Non-GMO requirements:

If certification is required (refer to import permit/NPPO notification), the exporter is responsible for ensuring that the consignment is accompanied by a Certificate as to Condition attesting that the seed has not been genetically modified.

If requested, a Certificate as to Condition (Grain - GX46/Horticulture - HX46) can be issued for the consignment that is specifically supported from information supplied by the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) and where it is a government requirement of the importing country for non-GMO certification (refer to import permit/NPPO Notification).

The following text must be added to the additional declaration field when a GX46/HX46 template is added to the RFP:

The Office of the Gene Technology Regulator has advised the department that there has been no intentional release into the Australian environment of genetically modified product(s) listed on this certificate.


Note: Alternatively,exporter may attach a laboratory test report attesting to freedom from the GMO(when specified on the import permit).
If stated by permit consignments must be hulledand subject to a heat treatment process (dried, roasted and dehydrated) toensure the product is ready for consumption.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

Import permits dated 2 January 2020, 2 June 2020 and 6 August 2025. NPPO advice dated 1 February 2024. Fijian NPPO advise that Endorsement 7746 is not required for grain commodities and is only required for fresh produce hosts.
