Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Consignments are to be accompanied by a weed analysis report or seed analysis certificate issued by an International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) or Association of Official Seed Analysts (AOSA) accredited laboratory.

Consignments must be fumigated with either:

  • Phosphine at 5 grm/m3 for 7 days at 25 degrees Celsius.

OR

  • Methyl bromide at 23 grms/m3 for 24 hours at 20-25 degrees Celsius.

AND

  • Consignments must be dusted or coated with Thiram or an equivalent fungicide at recommended manufacturers requirements (registered label rates).


The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
