Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

All fresh fruits and vegetables to Fiji must undergo a targeted inspection for fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda). Please refer to the Reference: Pests, diseases and contaminants of horticultural commodities and the Reference: Plant exports guide – Sampling horticulture for information on this pest and conducting a targeted inspection.

Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Consignment must be labelled with its correct botanical name (genus and species).

Endorsement number 6536 is to be listed in the coded statement field of the RFP.

Original phytosanitary certificate from the country of origin must accompany the consignment.

If the treatment details stated on the import permit are not specified on the original phytosanitary certificate (country of origin), then it's the responsibility of the exporter to have the consignment treated as stated below;

  • Consignments are to be devitalised prior to export.
  • Treatment is immersion or dipping of the stems of the flowers in a solution of Glyphosate (Roundup) to render the plant material non-propagatable.
  • Rate of application is 1% Glyphosate solution 10ml per litre of water.
  • The flower stem should be immersed for at least 20 minutes in glyphosate solution to a depth of at least 35 cm/ to within cm of the flower head/within 15 cm of the apex.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Details of treatment to be endorsed on the re-export phytosanitary certificate (EX25) in the treatment section.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 7533)
1) The cut flowers in this consignment have fully complied with the Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry import requirements and standards and are allowed to be retailed in Australia,
2) The consignment has been packaged in pest-proof cartons that eliminates the possibility of entry of insect pests,
3) The consignment was inspected and found free from all life stages of Spodoptera frugiperda (Fall armyworm).
