Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.
A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.
Exporter is to ensure any packing used is not hay, straw, chaff, or any decomposing material.
Note: Import permits are not required for deshelled/hulled nuts in retail packages.
The import conditions are applicable to raw, shelled or in-shell nuts of:
- Almonds
- Cashews
- Brazil nuts
- Hazelnuts
- Macadamias
- Pecans
- Walnuts
- Pistachios
- Peanuts
- Pine nuts
Explanation of the endorsements
Endorsement 3009:
Endorsement 3009:
- Applies to consignments containing goods that have been imported into Australia, re-packaged (but have not undergone further processing and are not re-labelled as Australian products) and exported to Fiji, and imported goods being re-exported in the original packaging as part of a mixed consignment of Australian and imported products.
- This Endorsement must be included for all goods of non-Australian origin which meet the above criteria (i.e. re-packaged and exported with no further processing, or re-exported in original packaging as part of a mixed consignment of Australian and imported products) regardless of additional declaration requirements specifically stated on the import permit.
- Exporter is to:
State the country of origin of the goods in the Additional Product Description, and
Provide a copy of the departmental document titled 'Release from biosecurity control' which contains the 'Final Directives: Finalised and Released' direction that was issued for the products after arrival and release in Australia to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection, and upload a scanned copy of this document to PEMS before requesting authorisation.
A phytosanitary certificate with nil additional declaration is to be issued for goods of Australian origin.
If required by the import permit, consignments must be subjected to some form of high heat process (e.g. hulled, dried, roasted or dehydrated) prior to export.
The exporter is to provide a packer's declaration or a manufacturer's declaration attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Details of treatment do not require endorsement in the treatment section of the phytosanitary certificate.
Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 3009)
1) The goods have fully complied with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry import requirements and standards and are allowed to be retailed in Australia.
Import permits dated 15 December 2017, 30 August 2018, 13 September 2021, 1 August 2023, 20 August 2024, and 13 September 2024. NPPO regulation effective 5 July 2018. NPPO advice dated 26 February 2024. Fijian NPPO advise that Endorsement 7746 is not required for grain commodities and is only required for fresh produce hosts. NPPO advice regarding additional declaration requirement for non-Australian origin goods verified on 6 August 2026.
