Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

Sorghum bicolor seed for scientific research may be imported under a research letter of authority - regulations for this are stipulated under Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/829. If a letter of authority is obtained, no phytosanitary certificate is required and no phytosanitary inspection by an Authorised Officer is required.

If no letter of authority is used, the consignment must be inspected by an Authorised Officer and a phytosanitary certificate must be issued.

It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure the consignment is exported within 14 days of inspection and the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.
