It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.


Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Explanation of endorsements:

From January 2025, the EU will require testing of all seeds for sowing of Phaseolus vulgaris and P. coccineus seed for the presence of Bacterial tan spot of bean (Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens). 

If the seeds are not tested in Australia, they will be subject to testing on arrival in the EU. If testing is completed in the EU:
  • incoming consignments which are sampled for testing will be put on hold pending the outcome of the testing results.
  • the initial detection test may take up to 3-4 weeks, due to the required testing procedures.
  • costs for logistic storage under customs can be significant and exporters will be liable for demurrages costs.
Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 968)
1) Seeds in this consignments were sourced from area known to be free of American common blight (Xanthomonas campestris pv phaseoli).

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 927)
1) A representative sample was found free through laboratory testing of American common blight (Xanthomonas campestris pv phaseoli).

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 6006)
1) Crop was inspected at appropriate time and found to be free of American common blight (Xanthomonas campestris pv phaseoli).

Option 4 (EXDOC Endorsement 7951)
1) Seeds in this consignments were sourced from area known to be free of American common blight (Xanthomonas campestris pv phaseoli).
2) All lots of the consignment have been laboratory tested and found free from Bacterial tan spot of bean (Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. Flaccumfaciens).

Option 5 (EXDOC Endorsement 7952)
1) A representative sample was found free through laboratory testing of American common blight (Xanthomonas campestris pv phaseoli).
2) All lots of the consignment have been laboratory tested and found free from Bacterial tan spot of bean (Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. Flaccumfaciens).

Option 6 (EXDOC Endorsement 7953)
1) Crop was inspected at appropriate time and found to be free of American common blight (Xanthomonas campestris pv phaseoli).
2) All lots of the consignment have been laboratory tested and found free from Bacterial tan spot of bean (Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. Flaccumfaciens).
