Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.


If the exporter requires lot number/s on thephytosanitary certificate for re-export purposes, the Authorised Officer must record the lot number/s on the inspection record. Lot number details must be added to the lotnumber field on the RFP.

Italy requires that the content of inert matter (including soil) in a consignment of Trifolium spp seed does not exceed 3%.

Portugal requires that the content of inert matter (including soil) in a consignment of Trifolium spp seed does not exceed 0.7%.

  • These import requirements are only applicable to seed species that are not included amongst the plants, plant products and other objects, listed in the Annexes to the EU Plant Health Regulations. 
  • Exporters are encouraged to contact the National Plant Protection Organisation (NPPO) of the importing country and verify specific import requirements that apply to their consignment prior to export.
