EU Regulations do not allow the introduction of Harmful Organisms into certain PROTECTED ZONES. Granada and Malaga in Spain and Alentejo, Algrave and Madeira in Portugal are declared protective zones for Mango seed weevil (Sternochetus mangiferae).

EXDOC Endorsement No 3044 is applicable when exporting mango seeds to protective zones of Spain (Granada and Malaga) and protective zones of Portugal (Alentejo, Algrave and Madeira).

Mango seed weevil (Sternochetus mangiferae) is considered a quarantine pest for Western Australia. Mango seeds sourced from Western Australia qualify for EXDOC endorsement No 3044.

Mango seeds sourced from New South Wales, Northern Territory and Queensland do not qualify for export to the Protected Zones of Spain (Granada and Malaga) and protective zones of Portugal (Alentejo, Algrave and Madeira).

A phytosanitary certificate with no additional declaration will be issued when exporting to other European Union countries or to zones other than the protected zones of Spain (Granada and Malaga) Spain and Portugal (Alentejo, Algrave and Madeira). 

When sourcing seeds from Western Australia for export to the protected zones of Spain (Granada and Malaga) and protective zones of Portugal (Alentejo, Algrave and Madeira), a state freedom certificate from the WA state government must be provided to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Exporter to provide evidence (Exporter's Declarations) attesting to the endorsement and to present to the department Authorised Officer at time of inspection.
