Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


Copy of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of making an appointment for inspection.

Karnal bunt (Tilletia indica), Drawf bunt (Tilletia controversa) and Khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) are not known to occur in Australia. Freedom from these pests may be endorsed without supporting evidence.

Visual inspection is sufficient to endorse freedom from live insect pests, Ergot (Claviceps purpurea Tul.), noxious weed seeds and natural soil.

Exporters are to provide a crop inspection report or a laboratory analysis certificate as evidence to endorse freedom from seed-borne/seed transmitted diseases and Flag smut of wheat (Urocystis agropyri) and to present to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Exporters must refer to the import permit to verify requirements for their consignment and select the appropriate EXDOC Endorsement.

Non-GMO requirements:

If certification is required (refer to import permit/NPPO notification), the exporter is responsible for ensuring that the consignment is accompanied by a Certificate as to Condition attesting that the seed has not been genetically modified.

If requested, a Certificate as to Condition (Grain - GX46/Horticulture - HX46) can be issued for the consignment that is specifically supported from information supplied by the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) and where it is a government requirement of the importing country for non-GMO certification (refer to import permit/NPPO Notification).

The following text must be added to the additional declaration field when a GX46/HX46 template is added to the RFP:

The Office of the Gene Technology Regulator has advised the department that there has been no intentional release into the Australian environment of genetically modified product(s) listed on this certificate.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement3006)
1) A representative sample was inspected and found free of natural soil.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement No 614)
1) Karnal bunt (Tilletia indica) is known not to occur in Australia.

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement No 6073)
1) The consignment was found free through official testing and inspection procedure of seed borne/seed transmitted diseases.
2) A representative sample was inspected and found to be free of natural soil.

Option 4 (EXDOC Endorsement No 6157)
1) Karnal bunt (Tilletia indica), Drawf bunt (Tilletia controversa) and Khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) are known not to occur in Australia.
2) The consignment was found free through official testing and inspection procedure of Ergot (Claviceps purpurea Tul.) and Flag smut of wheat (Urocystis agropyri).
3) A representative sample was inspected and found to be free of noxious weed seeds and natural soil.
