Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 5046:

Collar rot (Cylindrocladium parasiticum), Bacterial wilt of dahlia (Erwinia chrysanthemi), Nematodes (Meloidogyne spp, Radopholus similis, Paratrichodorus spp, Pratylenchus spp and Trichodorus spp), Downy mildew (Peronosclerospora spp), Pink rot (Pyrenochaeta terrestris),  Blast of oil palm (Pythium splendens), Leaf scald of sugarcane (Xanthomonas albilineans) and Sugarcane gumming disease (Xanthomonas axonopodis pv vasculorum) are either not known to occur in Australia or unlikely to be on the export pathway of Zea mays seed. These pests do not require testing or inspection to determine freedom.

Endorsement 6012:
  • Applies to Zea mays seeds of New Zealand origin.
  • When using EXDOC Endorsement 6012 for seeds of New Zealand origin, freedom from the pest should be endorsed as follows:
Visual inspection by the Authorised Officer for the following pests:
Cocklebur (Xanthium spp), Prickly nightshade (Solanum rostratum), Johnson grass (Sorghum halepense), Horsenettle (Solanum carolinense), Russian knapweed (Centaurea repens), Red imported fire ant (Solenopsis invicta), Sandburr (Cenchrus spp), Siam weed (Eupatorium odoratum), Argentine stem weevil (Listronotus bonariensis) and White fringed beetle (Naupactus leucoloma).

Laboratory testing to endorse freedom from the following pests:
Pineapple eye rot (Cephalosporium sacchari), Croftonweed (Eupatorium adenophorum), Machlomovirus Maize chlorotic mottle virus, Potato tuber nematode (Ditylenchus destructor) and Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci).

No evidence is required to endorse freedom from the following pests as the following pests are not on Zea mays seed exports pathway:
Bacterial wilt of dahlia (Erwinia chrysanthemi), Nematode (Meloidogyne spp), Nematode (Xiphinema spp), Nematodes (Longidorus spp), nematode (Paratrichodorus spp) and Leaf scald of sugarcane (Xanthomonas albilineans).

Endorsement 8444:

Leaf scald of sugarcane (Xanthomonas albilineans), Pink root of onion (Pyrenochaeta terrestris), Sugarcane gumming disease (Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. vasculorum), Japanese beetle (Popillia japonica), Horsenettle (Solanum carolinense), Maize chlorotic mottle virus and Maize dwarf mosaic virus are not known to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from these pests.

Visual inspection by an Authorised Officer is sufficient for endorsing freedom from Red imported fire ant (Solenopsis invicta), Siam weed (Eupatorium odoratum), Sugarcane weevil borer (Rhabdoscelus obscurus), Columbus grass (Sorghum almum), Prickly nightshade (Solanum rostratum), Russian knapweed cocklebur (Xanthium spp), Russian knapweed (Centaurea repens), Croftonweed (Eupatorium adenophorum), White fringed beetle (Naupactus leucoloma), Sandbar (Cenchrus spp), Johnson grass (Sorghum halepense), Wild oat (Avena sterilis) and Argentine stem weevil (Listronotus bonariensis).

Bacterial wilt of dahlia (Erwinia chrysanthemi) is unlikely to be on the export pathway, therefore no testing or inspection is required to determine freedom from this pest.

An area freedom certificate, a crop inspection report or a laboratory analysis certificate is required to endorse freedom from Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci), Collar rot (cylindrocladium parasiticum), Downy mildew (Peronosclerospora spp), Pineapple eye rot (Cephalosporium sacchari), Nematodes (Longidorus spp), Root knot nematode (Meloidogyne spp), Root lesion nematode (Pratylenchus spp), Sturdy root nematode (Paratrichodorus spp), Stubby root nematode (Trichodorus spp) and Burrowing nematode (Radopholus similis).
