The consignment must be free of pests, soil, weed seeds, other plant residues.

The consignment must meet national food safety standards.

Establishments with the intention to export grape seed for processing to China will need to be listed as an approved establishment by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) prior to export.

To become registered and eligible to export grape seeds (free from marc) for processing to China, Plant Export Operations, Department of Agriculture need to assess the establishment processing systems and advise AQSIQ of suitability prior to the commencement of any exports. Once approved by AQSIQ (after conducting an audit of the establishment and heat treatment process), the establishment can then export to China.

China food registration:

Effective from 1 January 2022, the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC) implemented changes to registration and labelling requirements for food processing and storage facilities handling food exported to China.

For plant products, these requirements apply to edible grains, milled grain products, malt, fresh-kept/preserved and dehydrated vegetables, dry beans, nuts, seeds, dry fruits, unroasted coffee and cocoa beans.

These requirements do not apply to fresh fruit, unprocessed wheat and unprocessed barley.

The seeds are to treated by high temperature treatment and to contain no viable seeds and comply with the Plant Quarantine Protocol on Australian grape seeds exported to China signed on June 20, 2013.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

1) A representative sample was visually inspected and found free of Australian carpet beetle (Anthrenocerus australi), Flat Grain Beetle (Cryptolestes pusilloides) and White-marked spider beetle (Ptinus fur).
