Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.



Original and certified translation of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Explanation of the endorsements:

  • Visual inspection or laboratory testing may be used for certifying freedom from Ergot (Claviceps africana).
  • Panicum mosaic virus, Wheat eyespot (Pseudocercosporella herpotrichoides) and Black chaff (Xanthomonas translucens pv. translucens) do not require supporting evidence as it is not on sorghum seed export pathway.
  • Sugarcane downy mildew (Sclerospora sacchari) and Dwarf bunt (Tilletia controversa) are known not to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from these pests.
  • Visual inspection is sufficient for endorsing freedom from Red imported fire ant (Solenopsis invicta).

 

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Micor Plants case does not apply to Sorghum vulgaris

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 949)
1) Sugarcane downy mildew (Sclerospora sacchari) and Dwarf bunt (Tilletia controversa) are known not to occur in Australia,
2) The crop was inspected during active growth and found free from Sorghum ergot  (Claviceps africana), Crown gall (Agrobacterium tumefaciens) and Black chaff (Xanthomonas translucens pv translucens),
3) A representative sample was inspected and found free of Red imported fire ant (Solenopsis invicta) and Sorghum midge (Contarinia sorghicola).

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 3897)
1) A representative sample was inspected and found free of Red imported fire ant (Solenopsis invicta).

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 3510)
1) Sugarcane downy mildew (Sclerospora sacchari) and Dwarf bunt (Tilletia controversa) are known not to occur in Australia,
2) Using official procedures, the consignment was found free from evidence of Ergot (Claviceps africana), Panicum Mosaic Virus, Wheat eyespot (Pseudocercosporella herpotrichoides) and Black chaff (Xanthomonas translucens pv. translucens).

Option 4 (EXDOC Endorsement 6947)
1) Sugarcane downy mildew (Sclerospora sacchari) and Dwarf bunt (Tilletia controversa) are known not to occur in Australia,
2) Using official procedures, the consignment was found free from evidence of Ergot (Claviceps africana), Panicum Mosaic Virus, Wheat eyespot (Pseudocercosporella herpotrichoides), Black chaff (Xanthomonas translucens pv. translucens) and Red imported fire ant (Solenopsis invicta).

Option 5 (EXDOC Endorsement 7047)
1) Sugarcane downy mildew (Sclerospora sacchari) and Dwarf bunt (Tilletia controversa) are known not to occur in Australia,
2) Using official procedures, the consignment was found free from evidence of Ergot (Claviceps africana) and Black chaff (Xanthomonas translucens pv. translucens).
