Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


Original and certified translation of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


If the import permit requires a specific additional declaration for a certain pest or disease, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and to present to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 5928:

1) Visual inspection by the Authorised Officer is sufficient to endorse freedom from:

- fruit fly (Ceratitis Macleay)

- Garden snail (Helix aspersa)

- American serpentine leaf miner (Liriomyza trifolii)

2) The exporter is to provide a combination of laboratory analysis certificate, crop inspection report and area freedom certificate as evidence to certify freedom from the following pests:

- Baterial speck of tomato (Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato)

- Arabis mosaic virus (ArMV)

- Bacterial stock rot (Erwinia chrysanthemi)

- Halo blight on bean pods (Pseudomonas savastanoi pv. phaseolicola)

Nematodes (Trichodorus spp, Pratylenchus spp, Meloidogyne spp, Longidorus spp, Radopholus similis and Paratrichodorus spp) are not on the seed export pathway for Lactuca sativa. Freedom from these pests may be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate without any supporting evidence.

The additional declaration is only to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate where the import permit specifically states this requirement. If the import permit does not require specific additional declaration for a certain pest or disease, the phytosanitary certificate is to be issued with nil additional declaration. Exporters are to refer to the import permit to determine the appropriate additional declaration for their consignment.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 5928)
1) A representative sample was inspected and found to be free of fruit fly (Ceratitis Macleay), Garden snail (Helix aspersa) and American serpentine leaf miner (Liriomyza trifolii).
2) The consignment was found free through official testing and inspection procedure of Baterial speck of tomato (Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato), Arabis mosaic virus (ArMV), Bacterial stock rot (Erwinia chrysanthemi), Halo blight on bean pods (Pseudomonas savastanoi pv. phaseolicola), Trichodorus spp, Pratylenchus spp, Meloidogyne spp, Longidorus spp, Radopholus similis and Paratrichodorus spp.
