Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


It is the exporter's responsibility to ensurethat seeds meet Chile's quality requirements for seeds for sowing. Chile'sNPPO may reject consignments if they do not meet the requirements.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Any consignments with an ISTA analysis certificate which states a presence of soil greater than 0.1% of the sample (weight by weight) are required to be retested in Chile for soil. If testing in Chile confirms that soil presence is greater than 0.1% of the sample weight, the consignment will be rejected. Additionally, if soil is found during on-arrival inspection in Chile, the consignment will be rejected. It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure the soil content of a consignment meets Chile's requirements.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 1173:

  • Karnal bunt (Tilletia indica) is known not to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • A laboratory testing certificate is required to endorse freedom from Wheat nematode (Anguina tritici) and Barley stripe mosaic virus,
Endorsement 6792:
  • Karnal bunt (Tilletia indica) is known not to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • A laboratory testing certificate is required to endorse freedom from Wheat nematode (Anguina tritici) and Barley stripe mosaic virus.
If required, consignments are to be treated with Carboxin + Thiram, or Chlorothalonil at approved manufacturer's label rates.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

If treatment evidence is provided, treatment details are to be endorsed in the treatment section of the phytosanitary certificate. If no treatment evidence is required, no treatment details are to be endorsed in the treatment section of the phytosanitary certificate.
