Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

Any consignments with an ISTA analysis certificate which states a presence of soil greater than 0.1% of the sample (weight by weight) are required to be retested in Chile for soil. If testing in Chile confirms that soil presence is greater than 0.1% of the sample weight, the consignment will be rejected. Additionally, if soil is found during on-arrival inspection in Chile, the consignment will be rejected. It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure the soil content of a consignment meets Chile's requirements.
 
Explanation of the endorsement:
 
Endorsement 2023:
  • A laboratory analysis certificate indicating that bacterial isolation testing was conducted is required to endorse freedom from White tip nematode (Aphelenchoides besseyi) and Stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci).
For Panicum italicum the seed is to be treated with one of the following fungicides for Ustilago crameri and Cochliobolus victoriae: Thiram, Thiabendazole, Carboxin + Thiram, Carbendazim or other suitable group recommended for control of Ustilago crameri and Cochliobolus victoriae.

For Panicum maximum and Panicum miliaceum the seed is to be treated with one of the following fungicides for Ustilago crameri: Carboxin, Carboxin + Thiram, Thiabendazole or any other suitable group recommended for control of Ustilago crameri.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Note: The import requirements reference benomyl fungicide treatment, however there are no products containing benomyl which are registered by the Australian Pesticide and Veterinary Medicines Authority for use in Australia.
