Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that seeds meet Chile's quality requirements for seeds for sowing . Chile's NPPO may reject consignments if they do not meet the requirements.

Any consignments with an ISTA analysis certificate which states a presence of soil greater than 0.1% of the sample (weight by weight) are required to be retested in Chile for soil. If testing in Chile confirms that soil presence is greater than 0.1% of the sample weight, the consignment will be rejected. Additionally, if soil is found during on-arrival inspection in Chile, the consignment will be rejected. It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure the soil content of a consignment meets Chile's requirements.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 1695:
  • A laboratory analysis certificate indicating that DAS-ELISA testing was conducted is required to endorse freedom from Barley stripe mosaic virus.
Endorsement 7579:
  • A laboratory analysis certificate indicating that RT-PCR testing was conducted is required to endorse freedom from Barley stripe mosaic virus.
Endorsement 7858:
  • A laboratory analysis certificate indicating that Triple Antibody Sandwich ELISA (TAS-ELISA) testing was conducted is required to endorse freedom from Barley stripe mosaic virus.
Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 1695)
1) The shipment was found free of Barley stripe mosaic virus according to the result of an official laboratory analysis (DAS-ELISA).

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 7579)
1) The shipment was found free of Barley stripe mosaic virus according to the result of an official laboratory analysis (RT-PCR).

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 7858)
1) The shipment was found free of Barley stripe mosaic virus according to the result of an official laboratory analysis (Triple Antibody Sandwich ELISA (TAS-ELISA)).
