Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that seeds meet Chile's quality requirements for seeds for sowing. Chile's NPPO may reject consignments if they do not meet the requirements.

Any consignments with an ISTA analysis certificate which states a presence of soil greater than 0.1% of the sample (weight by weight) are required to be retested in Chile for soil. If testing in Chile confirms that soil presence is greater than 0.1% of the sample weight, the consignment will be rejected. Additionally, if soil is found during on-arrival inspection in Chile, the consignment will be rejected. It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure the soil content of a consignment meets Chile's requirements.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 8410:
  • Bent grass nematode (Anguina agrostis) is known not to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • A treatment certificate attesting to fungicide treatment using one of the products listed in the Treatment section is required to endorse freedom from Leaf blight (Cochliobolus victoriae).   
Endorsement 7580:
  • Bent grass nematode (Anguina agrostis) is known not to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • A laboratory analysis certificate indicating that a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) process was used is required to endorse freedom from Leaf blight (Cochliobolus victoriae).

Endorsement 7587:
  • Bent grass nematode (Anguina agrostis) is known not to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • A laboratory analysis certificate indicating that a freezing blotter method was used is required to endorse freedom from Leaf blight (Cochliobolus victoriae).
If endorsement 7580 or 7587 is used, no treatment is required for Dactylis glomerata seeds to Chile and no treatment details to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate.

If endorsement 8410 is used, the seed is to be treated for the control of Leaf blight (Cochliobolus victoriae) with one of the following fungicide products in alternative form: Carboxin, Carboxin + Thiram, Tiabendazol or others properly described.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 8410)
1) Bent grass nematode (Anguina agrostis) is known not to occur in Australia,
2) The consignment has been treated with an approved fungicide option for Leaf blight (Cochliobolus victoriae).

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 7580)
1) Bent grass nematode (Anguina agrostis) is known not to occur in Australia,
2) According to the results of official laboratory test using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique, the seeds are free from Leaf blight (Cochliobolus victoriae).

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 7587)
1) Bent grass nematode (Anguina agrostis) is known not to occur in Australia,
2) According to the results of official laboratory test using the freezing blotter method, the seeds are free from Leaf blight (Cochliobolus victoriae).

NPPO notification date unknown, correspondence from NPPO dated 20 July 2021, regulations from database sighted 9 November 2022, NPPO resolution 2237/2023. Written submission for additional declarations from exporter on 6 September 2023. NPPO advice receivedon 5 March 2025 via Ag Counsellor and NPPOresolution 2449/2022 (page 5-8) dated 18 June 2022.
