Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


ICR applies to the following only:
  • Allium ampeloprasum
  • Allium ascalonicum
  • Allium cepa
  • Allium fistulosum
  • Allium porrum
  • Allium schoenoprassum
  • Allium tuberosum
Any consignments with an ISTA analysis certificate which states a presence of soil greater than 0.1% of the sample (weight by weight) are required to be retested in Chile for soil. If testing in Chile confirms that soil presence is greater than 0.1% of the sample weight, the consignment will be rejected. Additionally, if soil is found during on-arrival inspection in Chile, the consignment will be rejected. It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure the soil content of a consignment meets Chile's requirements.

Seeds not being re-exported from Chile

Explanation of endorsement 2181:
  • A treatment certificate attesting to the treatment schedule described below is sufficient evidence to endorse treatment for Purple blotch (Alternaria porri).

Seed intended for re-export from Chile

Requests by exporters for additional endorsements of seed for sowing being exported to Chile may be complied with where it is known that the seed shall be re-exported to another destination through a re-export phytosanitary certificate. 

Exporters who require a new EXDOC Endorsement for re-export purposes are to provide written evidence of the additional declaration that needs to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate. Requests are to be emailed to MicorPlants@agriculture.gov.au for action.

Explanation of endorsement 7725:
  • Black rot (Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. allii) is not known to occur in Australia. No supporting evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • A crop inspection report is required to endorse freedom from Stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci) and Allium white rot (Sclerotium cepivorum).
Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Consignments are to be treated with one of the following approved fungicide at recommended manufacturers requirements:

  • Iprodione;

OR

  • Thiram;

OR

  • Triadimenol;

OR

  • Any other suitable fungicide at registered label rates.


Note: No alternative products are approved for the treatment of onion seed (Allium cepa).

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Note:There are no products containing benomyl which are registered by the Australian Pesticide and Veterinary Medicines Authority for use in Australia.
