Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


Consignments must be free from bark.

Phytosanitary certificate must be issued within 14 days prior to export to Canada

Pre-shaped mouldings, End-jointed or Finger-jointed lumber, Pre-shaped banisters, Railings and Spindles that have been subjected to processing conditions that have altered the commodity in a manner to reduce significantly the ability of wood items to provide a habitat for pets are considers to be processed wood products.

Wooden furniture, Finished wood tool handles, Pre-made windows and doors, Routed wooden picture frames, Kitchenware and Childrens toys are not regulated.

Uncertifed decorative wood items including baskets, branches and wreaths, containing cones not exceeding 1.5mm thickness and must be completely sealed with paint, varnish or other sealants.

A Phytosanitary certifciate is required for decorative woods items exceeding 1.5mm thickness.

Phytosanitary certificate not required for other maufactured (processed) wooden articles.
Decorative wood items exceeding 1.5mm thickness must be fumigation with Methyl bromide at:

  • 48 grm/m3 for 24 hours at minimum temperature of 21 degrees Celsius or above;

OR

  • 56 grm/m3 for 24 hours at minimum temperature of 16 degrees Celsius or above;

OR

  • 64 grm/m3 for 24 hours at minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius or above

Uncertified decorative wood items less than 1.5mm thick must be dried to a moisture content of less than 8%

Decorative wood items over 1.5mm thick must have less than 20% moisture content

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
