Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure the consignment is exported within 14 days of inspection and the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.


The Phytosanitary certificate must include treatment details.

The consignment is subject to inspection by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency upon arrival.

Explanation of Endorsement:
  • Endorsement 4064: For fumigation plus cold treatment conducted in-transit. 
  • No endorsement is required for fruit treated by fumigation plus cold treatment conducted onshore.

Fruit must be treated for by methyl bromide fumigation followed by cold treatment in transit or onshore. 

Temperature logs from cold storage lockers or refrigerated containers must be presented to the Canadian Plant Protection Authorities at the port of arrival.

The fruit must be treated by methyl bromide fumigation followed by cold treatment in transit or onshore by one of the following schedules.

Schedule 1
  • 16 grm/m3 for 2 hours at a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius at normal atmospheric pressure followed by cold treatment in transit or onshore for 21 days at 0 degrees Celsius;

OR

Schedule 2

  • 24 grm/m3 for 2 hours at a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius at normal atmospheric pressure followed by cold treatment in transit or onshore for 21 days at 0 degrees Celsius.

Details of treatment to be endorsed on the Phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section:

Format for combination treatment (example)

  • Treatment code as: “FUMIG" and treatment information as: “With Methyl bromide at 16grm/m3 for 2 hours at a pulp temperature of 21 degrees Celsius at normal atmosphere pressure".
  • Treatment code as: “COLD" and rate as: "at 0 degrees Celsius for 21 days".

Note: Treatment dates must be included in the appropriate field.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 4064)

1) The fruit is subject to cold treatment in transit for 21 days at or below 0 degrees Celsius.
