Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

If products are transiting through the USA during shipping, and will also transit through countries listed in Table 3-5 in the USDA Seeds Not for Planting Manual prior to transiting through the USA, a phytosanitary certificate can be issued with Endorsement 998. Otherwise, no phytosanitary certificate is required.

It is the exporter's responsibility to determine whether a phytosanitary certificate with Endorsement 998 is required and to communicate their decision to the Authorised Officer at time of inspection.

  • Khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) is known not to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest
