Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.
A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Note for Exporters, AOs and ASE: 

  1. The ICR for fresh onions, fresh garlic, fresh shallots are covered under the spices import permit issued by Brunei's NPPO.
  2. Onions to Brunei do not require fumigation, consignments with permits listing fumigation for spices will not be authorised. 
    • For exporters: If you receive a permit listing fumigation as a required treatment you must contact your importer to request a permit with the correct conditions from the NPPO of Brunei Darussalam. 
    • For AOs and ASE officers: If you receive a permit listing fumigation as required treatment, direct the exporter to seek an import permit without fumigation, as above.
