This ICR applies to:
  • Cucumis melo varieties (Rockmelon, Honeydew melon, Muskmelon) 
  • Citrullus lanatus (Watermelon)
Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.


Import permit number must be printed on the phytosanitary certificate.
 
Requirements for wood packing material:

If wood packaging material is used then the wood packaging material must be treated with:

  • methyl bromide at 48g/m3 for duration of 24 hrs 
OR
  • heat treated at 56°C for 30 minutes and stamped as per ISPM 15 requirements.

Note: for wood packaging material that is fumigated a certificate must be presented to AO at time of inspection. Additionally, the certificate must be attached to the phytosanitary certificate on arrival in Brunei.

Consignments are to be treated with:

  •  Hot water immersion at 50 -55°C hot water for 3-5 minutes.

OR

  • Irradiated at a minimum absorbed dose of 150Gy.
OR
  • Fumigation with Methyl bromide at 32 g/m3 for 2 hours at 21°C at NAP.

OR

Additional treatment option for Cucumis melo (i.e. Honeydew and Rockmelon):

  • Dimethoate dip at 400 PPM +/-6%(+/-24 PPM) for a minimum of one minute.

Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
