Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.

Each package must be labelled with scientific name of the plants and the country of origin.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.

The flowering plant must be grown in an area free of quarantine pests.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

Flowers are to be treated with:

  • Fumigation using Methyl bromide at 32 grm/m3 for 2 hours at 10 degrees Celsius or above.

OR

  • Sprayed with 0.2 % Malathion and 0.4 % Tetramethylthiuram Disulfide (TMTD) or any suitable insecticide or fungicide

OR

  • any other equivalent treatment at approved label rates.

 

Any wood packing material used must be treated with:

  • Fumigation using Methyl bromide at 48grm/m3 for 24 hours at 10 degrees Celsius or above;

OR

  • Heat treatment at 56°C for a minimum duration of 30 continuous minutes;

OR

  • Other approved treatment in accordance with ISPM No.15 may be acceptable.

If fumigation treatment was applied on the consignment of fresh cut flowers and/or wood packaging, a fumigation certificate must be attached and indicated in the Phytosanitary Certificate.
