A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Non-GMO requirements:

If certification is required (refer to import permit/NPPO notification), the exporter is responsible for ensuring that the consignment is accompanied by a Certificate as to Condition attesting that the seed has not been genetically modified.

If requested, a Certificate as to Condition (Grain - GX46/Horticulture - HX46) can be issued for the consignment that is specifically supported from information supplied by the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) and where it is a government requirement of the importing country for non-GMO certification (refer to import permit/NPPO Notification).

The following text must be added to the additional declaration field when a GX46/HX46 template is added to the RFP:

The Office of the Gene Technology Regulator has advised the department that there has been no intentional release into the Australian environment of genetically modified product(s) listed on this certificate.

Explanation of the endorsements
  • Armillaria root rot (Armillaria mellea), Phytophthora ramorum and Brown marmorated sting bug (Halyomorpha halys) are not known to occur in Australia.
  • A representative sample was found free of Apple mosaic virus (APMV) and Prunus necrotic ring spot ilarvirus (PNRSV) using ELISA/PCR test.
  • A representative sample was found free of Bacterial blight (Xanthomonas campestris), Bacterial canker (Pseudomonas syringae), Verticillum spp and Phytoplasma disease through laboratory tests.
  • Inspect pests Hazelnut weevil (Curculio nucum), Wood boring weevil (Aades cultratus), Big bud mite, Filbert bud mite, Hazelnut gall mite, (Phyoptus avellanae), Plum scale, European fruit lecanium scale (Parthenolecaniu corni), Excrescent scale, Wisteria scale (Eulecanium excrescens), and Fruit tree borer (Maroga melanostigma) must be addressed during phytosanitary certificate inspection.
Note:
  • If evidence of freedom is provided for all the above pests and diseases then treatment with bactericide, fungicide and insecticide is not required.
  • Hot water treatment is mandatory for hazelnut scion.
Consignment must be treated with an appropriate bactericide, fungicide, insecticide at recommended manufacturers requirements.

Hot water treatment is mandatory for hazel nut scion at the rate of 30 minutes at 38ºC.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
