Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Import of food products into Bangladesh requires a Radioactivity Statement (GX46B) from the competent authority of the exporting country (Article 16 of the Import Policy Order 2012-2015, Ministry of Commerce, Bangladesh). When requested by the exporter, a Radiation Statement may be issued.


If the import permit conditions do not match these requirements, a copy of the import permit must be sent to the Grain and Seed Export Program for assessment before any export preparations commence.

Explanation of Endorsement 998:
  • This endorsement is only to be used when required by the import permit. For import permits that do not list a requirement for freedom from khapra beetle, a phytosanitary certificate with nil endorsement will be issued.
  • Khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) is known not to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.

For import permits indicating a requirement for treatment, consignments are to be fumigated with an appropriate fumigant at recommended manufacturer's requirements. The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection. Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

Treatment is only to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate when the import permit specifically states this requirement.

When an import permit is presented with no treatment requirement, a phytosanitary certificate will be issued without treatment details endorsed.
