Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

Original and certified translation of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

If specified on the import permit, the consignment must be accompanied by a certificate of origin and a non-GMO certificate.

Explanation of the endorsements:

Endorsement 8062:
  • Black rot (Xanthomonas euvesicatoria pv. allii) is not known to occur in Australia. No supporting evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • An area freedom certificate issued by a state government is required to endorse freedom from Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci).
Endorsement 8063:
  • Black rot (Xanthomonas euvesicatoria pv. allii) is not known to occur in Australia. No supporting evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • A pest free place of production declaration issued by a state government or grower or crop inspector is required to endorse freedom from Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci).
Endorsement 8064:
  • Black rot (Xanthomonas euvesicatoria pv. allii) is not known to occur in Australia. No supporting evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • A laboratory analysis certificate is required to endorse freedom from Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci).
Non-GMO requirements:

If certification is required (refer to import permit/NPPO notification), the exporter is responsible for ensuring that the consignment is accompanied by a Certificate as to Condition attesting that the seed has not been genetically modified.

If requested, a Certificate as to Condition (Grain - GX46/Horticulture - HX46) can be issued for the consignment that is specifically supported from information supplied by the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) and where it is a government requirement of the importing country for non-GMO certification (refer to import permit/NPPO Notification).

The following text must be added to the additional declaration field when a GX46/HX46 template is added to the RFP:

The Office of the Gene Technology Regulator has advised the department that there has been no intentional release into the Australian environment of genetically modified product(s) listed on this certificate.

1) Black rot (Xanthomonas euvesicatoria pv. allii) is not known to occur in Australia.
2) A representative sample was found free through laboratory testing of Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci).
