India
- Australia has a mutual recognition arrangement (MRA) in place with India for organic equivalence.
- The scope of the MRA includes:
- unprocessed plant products
- processed foods composed of one or more ingredients of plant origin
- wine.
There are no general requirements for India.
Ingredients from third party countries
- The MRA arrangement covers organic products that are grown and processed in India and Australia, including unprocessed plant products and processed foods composed of one or more ingredients of plant origin.
- This includes certified organic ingredients sourced from third countries that meet domestic regulatory requirements, provided they are processed in either Australia or India and then exported to the other country.
Exclusions
- Exporters should note the following organics products are currently excluded from the MRA:
- in-conversion agricultural products and processed products made from in-conversion agricultural products
- aquaculture products, including algae, seaweed and other aquatic plants or plant-like species
- greenhouse crops
- mushroom products
- apiculture products
- livestock products.
Labelling
- Organic agricultural products exported from Australia to India must include on the label a logo from an Australian certifying body approved by the department.
Prohibitions
- There are no specific prohibitions under the MRA.
