3.1 Government certification
Exporters must confirm that their establishment has the appropriate listing approvals in place with the department and the SFDA before applying for certification of honey and honey product exports to Saudi Arabia.
The establishment recorded in the ‘Process Establishment number’ field must be export listed for honey to Saudi Arabia. The establishment must hold an active export listing for honey to Saudi Arabia at the time of the process start and end date for each product line as well as at the date when the NEXDOC REX is submitted. Each product line of a NEXDOC REX must be processed at the same establishment.
Honey and other bee products for human consumption
Edible honey and bee products exported to Saudi Arabia must be accompanied by a HSA1 (NEXDOC only certificate) with endorsement 9000.

"The product/s described above;
- comes from an establishment (s) implementing a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Program.
- have been handled, prepared, packaged and stored in a hygienic manner.
- is/are fit for human consumption.
Honey and bee products shall comply with maximum residue limits for residues of pesticides and veterinary drugs for honey established by Codex Alimentarius Commission or, in the absence of a Codex MRL, conforms to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code.
The honey either:
- comes from apiaries situated in a country or zone free from Aethina tumida; the free zone is an area of at least 100km radius, which is not subject to any restrictions associated with the occurrence of the small hive beetle (A. tumida); or
- has been strained through a filter with a pore size of between 0.2mm and 0.42mm to ensure the destruction of A. tumida; or
- has been frozen at a core temperature of minus 12 degrees Celcius or less for at least 24 hours.
The honey comes from apiaries which are supervised and controlled by the relevant government authority and all precautions have been taken to prevent contamination with A. tumida."

3.2 Supporting documents and exporter declarations
The exporter must attach the following documents to the NEXDOC Request for Export (REX).
- Either a manufacturer’s declaration, HACCP certification or GMP certification to confirm compliance with the attestations below:
"The product/s described above;
- comes from an establishment (s) implementing a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Program.
- have been handled, prepared, packaged and stored in a hygienic manner.
- is/are fit for huamn consumption"
- Either a pest free area declaration from the relevant state jurisdiction (a), manufacturer’s declaration (b or c) or treatment certificate (c) to confirm compliance with the relevant attestation below:
"The honey either:
- comes from apiaries situated in a country or zone free from Aethina tumida; the free zone is an area of at least 100km radius, which is not subject to any restrictions associated with the occurrence of the small hive beetle (A. tumida); or
- has been strained through a filter with a pore size of between 0.2mm and 0.42mm to ensure the destruction of A. tumida; or
- has been frozen at a core temperature of minus 12 degrees Celcius or less for at least 24 hours.”
General mandatory documents for clearing honey and its products, which must be submitted to the authority at the port of entry. Documents in this table are not required to be attached to the NEXDOC REX.No | Document (paper/ electronic) | Comment |
