Unless specified within the commodity list below, the Department is unaware of any specific requirement for edible non-prescribed goods* that are for export to Mauritius.
*Importing country requirements for some non-prescribed goods that contain meat, fish, dairy or egg products and animal by-products are covered on the relevant meat, dairy, fish or egg pages in

2.1 Government certification
For edible apiculture products including honey and honeycomb use an EX188B certificate (NEXDOC only) with endorsement 611.
NEXDOC Endorsement 611:
- The exporting country is free from OIE listed diseases for bees or the honey and bee products originate from apiaries situated in a zone free from OIE listed diseases for bees.
- The honey originates from an establishment which has been approved by the Veterinary Authorities of the exporting country for the harvesting, processing, packing and labeling of honey for export.
- The honey has been processed to remove all impurities.
- The consignment is accompanied with results of laboratory analysis with regards to moistures, ash, acidity, apparent reducing sugars, apparent sucrose and water-insoluble matter.
- The honey does not contain prohibited substances and residues of veterinary medicinal products in excess of MRLs in accordance with the recommendations of the latest version of the Codex Alimentarius.

Mauritian import permit conditions may change without notice and exporters must ensure that their import permit attestation requirements are covered by endorsement 611. A Free Text Endorsement may be requested in NEXDOC if new attestations are required.

2.2 Supporting documents and exporter declarations
The exporter must attach supporting documentation to the NEXDOC Request for Export (REX) to demonstrate the consignment’s compliance with the endorsement 611.
A manufacturer’s declaration is required for the attestation “The honey has been processed to remove all impurities”.
A laboratory analysis certificate is required for the attestation “The consignment is accompanied with results of laboratory analysis as regards moistures, ash, acidity, apparent reducing sugars, apparent sucrose and water-insoluble matter.”
A declaration from the relevant state government agency stating the source apiaries are recognised as being free from contagious bee diseases regarding the OIE List of bee diseases.
3. Other requirement
3.1 Import Permit
Exporters are encouraged to contact their importers about obtaining an Import Permit.
The date and number of the import permit must be included on the EX188B.
3.2 Establishment name and number
The manufacturing establishment’s name and number must be included on the EX188B. The Manufacturing Establishment field of the REX must be completed using the format ‘Est No. XXXX Establishment name’
4. Exemptions granted by importing country
The Department is not aware of any exemptions being granted by Mauritius for edible apiculture products. Exporters are encouraged to confirm if any exemptions apply by contacting their importer or, if needed, the government authority in Mauritius.
