2.1 Prohibited raw materials in processed food
The new regulation provides the catalogue of raw materials prohibited from being used in processed foods and is compiled in two lists.
The two lists below are an excerpt only. Detailed lists can be found in the
BPOM regulation No. 22 of 2023.
List of prohibited bio-sourced ingredients in processed food, including 156 substances such as animal organs containing hormones.

2.2 Prohibited ingredients as food additives
Appendix 2 of this new regulation specifies the ingredients prohibited from being used as food additives in processed food, involving 45 ingredients.

The department encourages exporters to communicate with their importer to ascertain the necessary documents and requirements for exporting edible processed foods to Indonesia.
