These Importing Country Requirements apply to fresh celery with the scientific name Apium graveolens (including Apium graveolens var. graveolens, Apium graveolens var. dulce, Apium graveolens var. rapaceum) including leaves and stems.

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Additional requirements for underground portions:

If the underground portions of the celery are present, then the product must be grown at a place of production which is free from the nematode pest Melidogyne enterolobii, and the plants must be inspected during the growing season, with the plants and growing medium tested for the presence of M. enterolobii at the time of this inspection. The EXDOC endorsement 8475 must be used. 
 

EXDOC Endorsement 8475
1) The plants are grown at a place of production or a production site (including a plant growth facility) where M. enterolobii has not been known to occur or was known to occur previously but has been eradicated.
2) The plants are inspected at the place of production or the production site during the growing season, and the growing medium and the underground parts of the plants are examined by an appropriate nematological test and found to be free from M. enterolobii.
