It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.

Information about the process required to import animals into Türkiye can be found on the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry website.

On 17 June 2020 as part of a lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, the Turkish Government provided advice that it would now permit the import of domesticated animals (domesticated dogs, cats, birds and ornamental fish) accompanied by passengers to Türkiye.

Note

Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.

As importing country requirements may change without advice to the Department, you should confirm the requirements with the Turkish competent authority at the time of preparation for export.

Dogs and cats exported to Türkiye from Australia can travel under the health certificate provided below in a bilingual format:

If your animal is returning to Australia, you should make yourself familiar with Australia's requirements for importing live animals into Australia. This is important as your animal may have been exposed to diseases that do not occur in Australia.
