Importing country requirements

It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.

An import permit is required.

Contact the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) for information about the process required to import animals into the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from Australia.

Note
Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.

Health requirements

As importing country requirements may change without advice to the Department you should check the import documents and/or the country website carefully at the time of preparation for export.

Health certificate

I, Dr ………………………………, a duly authorised government veterinary officer, hereby certify that:

  1. The Australian State or Territory from which the day-old poultry or hatching eggs originate is free from highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI).

    A document from the State or Territory Veterinary authority identifying that the state or territory is free from HPAI.

  2. The day-old chickens to be exported to Vietnam have been inspected and are free of evidence of disease. (delete if hatching eggs are to be exported)

    A declaration from a registered veterinarian that inspected the day-old chickens.

  3. Salmonella pullorum, Salmonella gallinarum and Salmonella enteritidis are notifiable diseases in Australia. There have been no cases of these diseases reported on the premises of origin for the past 6 months.

    A document from the State or Territory Veterinary authority identifying that Salmonella pullorum, Salmonella gallinarum and Salmonella enteritidis are notifiable diseases in the State or Territory and that there have been no cases of these diseases reported on the premises of origin for the past 6 months.

  4. The day-old chickens or hatching eggs were packed in new packaging for export and have had no contact with any eggs, poultry or other birds of differing health status.

    An exporter declaration that the day-old chickens or hatching eggs were packed in new packaging for export and have had no contact with any eggs, poultry or other birds of differing health status.

Special conditions

Permission to move birds out of Australia

You may need permission under wildlife trade laws to move birds out of Australia. Check the Department’s International and wildlife trade requirements.
