Product processing

1. The following antibiotics must be added to the extender:

- gentamycin 356 mcg per ml
- tylosin 84 mcg per ml
- lincospectin 900 mcg per ml

2. The semen must be free from contamination by pathogenic
microorganisms.

3. The permanent marking on each straw of semen are to include:
. the date of collection
. the registration number
. the registration name of the bull
. the identification of the semen collection centre.

Special conditions

The donor bulls have been kept at an artificial insemination centre for at least 2 months prior to collection of the semen for export to Vietnam and during this time were not used for natural service.

Pre-export preparations

1. The donor bulls have been kept at an AB center for at least 2
months prior to the collection of the semen for export to
vietnam and during this time, were not used for natural
service.

2. The donor bulls were negative to the following tests within 6
months prior to the collection of semen for export:

. brucellosis - standard tube test or CFT
. tuberculosis - intradermal caudal fold test using bovine PPD
tuberculin
. leptospirosis - microtiter agglutination test at the 1 in 400
dilution for serotypes L. hardjo and L. pomona
OR
treated with dihydrostreptomycin at 25 mg/kg
before collection of semen
. trichomoniasis - culture of preputial washings
. campylobacteriosis - culture of preputial washings
. Johne;s disease - CFT or ELISA test
. enzootic bovine leucosis - AGID or ELISA test.

Health certification

1. Australia has been free of bovine spongiform encephalopathy
(BSE) for at least 5 years prior to collection for export.

2. Australia has been free for the last 3 years from:

. foot and mouth disease
. vesicular stomatitis
. rinderpest
. East Coast fever
. contagious pleuropneumonia

3. The AB centre has been free for the last 3 years from:

. brucellosis
. tuberculosis

4. The AB centre has been clinically free for the last 3 years
prior to collection of semen for export from:

. Johne,s disease
. bovine leucosis

5. The AB centre has been free for the last 12 months prior
to collection of semen for export from:

. trichomoniasis
. campylobacteriosis
. leptospirosis

6. The AB centre has been clinically free for the last 12 months
prior to collection of semen for export to Vietnam:

. infectious bovine rhinotracheitis
. malignant catarrhal fever
. bluetongue
. Q fever
. bovine viral diarrhoea

7. The donor bulls producing semen for export to Vietnam have not
had access to feed or feed supplements derived from internal
organs and tissue of ruminants from any country infected with
BSE.

Port of entry requirements

1. The semen must be accompanied by a health certificate issued
by the center veterinarian and endorsed by AQIS.

2. The health certificate must contain:

. the name and address of the importer
. the name and address of the semen collection center
. complete identification of the donor animals.
