Importing country requirements

It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.

Information about the process required to import animals into the United States of America can be found on United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Exporters are advised to check for updated Import Notices and advice on entry requirements for swine and their germplasm. Australia is not listed as an allowable country for the import of swine and their germplasm into the United States at this time.

The requirements to import live animals into the State of Hawaii and the island territory of Guam (PDF 170 KB) are subject to locally imposed quarantine requirements.

Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.
