Importing country requirements

It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.

An import permit is required.

Information on the requirements to import animals into the United Arab Emirates is available on the UAE Ministry of Climate Change & Environment’s website.

Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.

Health requirements

I,_____________________________________________________________, an official veterinarian for the government of Australia certify to the best of my knowledge that:

  1. Australia is free from highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in accordance to the OIE Terrestrial Health Code.
  2. The quail for export to the United Arab Emirates were hatched and kept in Australia until export. Australia practices a stamping out policy for HPAI and Australia has been free of HPAI for at least three (3) months prior to export.
  3. The Australian State or Territory form which the quail for export to the United Arab Emirates originated has been free from nationally notifiable poultry diseases including Newcastle disease for six (6) months prior to export.
  4. The quail for export to the United Arab Emirates have been inspected on the day of consignment and are free of any clinical evidence of avian influenza or any other poultry disease.
  5. The quail have been vaccinated as specified below:

Special conditions

Permission to move birds out of Australia

You may need permission under wildlife trade laws to move birds out of Australia. Refer to the Department’s International wildlife trade requirements. There is specific guidance for non-commercial wildlife trade for public exhibition, scientific research, conservation breeding and personal use.
