Importing country requirements
It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.
Information about the import requirements for coral and marine invertebrates is obtainable from the
United Arab Emirates Ministry of Climate Change & Environment website.

- Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.

(must be a Government Veterinary Officer), a duly authorised government veterinary officer, hereby certify that:
- the animals described on Page 1 of this certificate underwent an inspection on ...(date)………..and showed no clinical signs of disease, and
The Department issues certification based on inspection conducted by a Department veterinary or aquatic animal health officer, the relevant State or Territory Veterinary Authority or the relevant State or Territory Fisheries Authority.
- the containers used for transporting the live animals were either new or have been cleaned and disinfected prior to use.

Special conditions
Permission to import aquatic animals into the UAE
You may need permission under UAE federal wildlife trade laws to import certain specimens from the sea and you should check this.

You may need permission under wildlife trade laws to move aquatic animals out of Australia. Refer to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water’s
International and wildlife trade requirements.

Other requirements
Marine Invertebrates
In February 2026, the UAE official authority confirmed that the agreed health conditions for the export of coral are also valid for other marine invertebrates. Should exporters seek to export marine invertebrates, contact the Department’s regional office in the Australian state or territory from where the consignment will depart.
