Health requirements

There are no agreed conditions for the export of cats to Sri Lanka from Australia. The following information is intended as a guide only.

As importing country requirements may change without advice to the Department you should check the import permit and/or the country website carefully at the time of preparation for export.

Certifying officers must review the import permit(s), any conditions provided by the exporter, the website of the importing authority, and ensure that the issued document(s) are consistent with the permit(s).

Note
Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.

Permits for dogs and cats destined to Sri Lanka may include Coronavirus testing requirements – this is not possible in Australia for dogs and cats except with the express permission of the state/territory Chief Veterinary Officer. In these cases, a dispensation or new permit may be required for the consignment to proceed as testing is unlikely.
