Importing country requirements
It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.
Refer to the Singapore Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) requirements for the
importation of animals for research purposes, including genetically modified laboratory animals.
Check the procedures for the
importation of Wildlife and Endangered Species into Singapore for additional permit requirements.
- Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.
As importing country requirements may change without advice to the Department you should check the import permit and/or the Singapore website carefully at the time of preparation for export.
Importing laboratory animals
Only institutions in Australia that have been
accredited by the authorities in Singapore can export laboratory animals to Singapore from Australia.
The intended export must be to facilities in Singapore that have been licensed by the
Animal and Veterinary Service of Singapore.
The importing country may have specific transport requirements and you should check this.
Pre- and post-arrival quarantine requirements
The importing country may have specific pre- and post-arrival quarantine requirements and you should check this.
Return to Australia
Not all live animals are permitted to be imported into Australia. You should make yourself familiar with the
Department's requirements for importing live animals. This is important as your animal may have been exposed to diseases that do not occur in Australia.
