Importing country requirements
It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.
Information on Singapore's import requirements for personal pets and commercial consignments of pets is available at the Singapore Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS)
website. Ensure you consult the correct veterinary conditions specific for Australia, which is a category A Country.
There are breeds of dogs not allowed in Singapore and you should check the AVS website instructions carefully.
Singapore imposes additional requirements for commercial importers of dogs and these are available on the AVS website.
Note: Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.
Health requirements
As importing country requirements may change without advice to the Department you should check the import permit and/or the Singapore website carefully at the time of preparation for export.
Special conditions
The importing country may impose special conditions and you should check the import permit and/or the Singapore website carefully at the time of preparation for export.
Other requirements
Pre-export preparations
Identity verification - microchip scanning
A Departmental officer must verify the identity of all companion animals destined for Singapore by scanning the animal’s microchip number and checking against the required veterinary health certificate and vaccination certificate. The exporter must contact their regional office to arrange an appointment for the inspection.
Travel requirements
Sealing of pet transport containers
All dogs exported from Australia to Singapore must be sealed into the transport container or cage with a numbered tamper-proof seal issued by the Department.
This seal can be applied by a commercial animal transport company at the time the dog is loaded into the aircraft, such that there is no requirement for a Departmental officer to personally apply the seal to the cage or container hours or days prior to export.
A Departmental officer will issue a numbered Departmental seal at the time the health certificate is issued. The number on the seal must be referenced in the health certificate issued by the Department.
