Importing country requirements
It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.
There are no agreed conditions for the importation of cats into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from Australia.
An import permit and health certificate are required.
If the import permit is in a language other than English, a certified English translation by a NAATI 2/3 level translator or equivalent must also be provided before export health certification will be issued.
- Note
- Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.
- The importation into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of certain breeds of cat may be prohibited. You should check the importing country authority about any current prohibitions and requirements.
- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia may request export documentation to be issued with an Authentication certificate by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) before it will be accepted. This is known as ‘legalisation’. Refer to DFAT’s Smartraveller website for more information about how to have your Australian documents legalised for use overseas.
Health requirements
As importing country requirements may change without advice to the Department you should check the import permit and/or the country website carefully at the time of preparation for export.
Health certification
Certifying officers must review the import permit(s) and conditions provided by the exporter and ensure that the issued document(s) are consistent with the permit(s).
Each consignment must be accompanied by a health certificate and certificate of origin from the Australian Government and attested by the
Saudi Arabian Embassy in Australia.
Animals may need to be vaccinated against rabies at least one month and not later than six months prior to dispatch (between one and six months before export).
Any Rabies Vaccination Certificate must clearly show the vaccine sticker, batch number, date of manufacturer, expiry, name of manufacturing company and country of manufacture.
