Importing country requirements
It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.
There are no agreed conditions for the export of poultry day old chickens or hatching eggs from Australia to the Republic of the Philippines.
A Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Import Certificate/VQC from the Republic of the
Philippines’ Department of Agriculture (Bureau of Animal Industry) is required and is the equivalent of an import permit.

- Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.
Health requirements
Health certification
There are no agreed conditions or health certificate for this commodity. The information below is intended as a guide only.
Exporters must obtain a Veterinary Quarantine Clearance (VQC) with attached import health requirements from the Philippines’ Government.
Certifying officers must review the import permit(s) and conditions provided by the exporter and ensure that the issued document(s) are consistent with the permit.
Health certificate
I, Dr ……………………………………………, a duly authorised government veterinary officer, hereby certify that:
- The Australian State or Territory from which the day-old chickens or hatching (fertile) eggs originate is free from highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI).
The Department issues certification based on a document from the State or Territory Veterinary authority identifying that the State or Territory is free from HPAI.
- Day-old chickens
- The day-old chickens are free of any signs of infectious and contagious disease.
The Department issues certification based on a declaration from a registered veterinarian that inspected the day-old chickens.
- The day-old chickens have been hatched from eggs from accredited Salmonella pullorum-free flocks.
The Department issues certification based on a document from the State or Territory Veterinary authority identifying that the day-old chickens were hatched from eggs from accredited Salmonella pullorum-free flocks.
OR
The donor flocks from which the day-old chickens were produced have been tested for Salmonella Pullorum by serum agglutination testing at least twice in the 6 months prior to export, including once within 30 days of export. A number sufficient to detect 5% prevalence with 95% confidence was tested. No evidence of Salmonella Pullorum was detected.
The Department issues certification based on a declaration from the veterinarian who performed the blood sampling and laboratory test results.
- There has been no evidence of disease due to fowl plague (HPAI or notifiable low pathogenicity avian influenza), Newcastle disease, avian encephalomyelitis, avian leucosis, Marek's disease, infectious bursal disease or any infectious and contagious disease on the farm of origin in the six months prior to export.
The Department issues certification based on documentation from the exporter of no cases of the relevant non-notifiable diseases occurring on the property of origin for the relevant time period.
The Department issues certification based on documentation from the State or Territory Veterinary Authority of no reports of the relevant notifiable diseases on the property of origin for the relevant time period.
- The day-old chickens have been hatched from eggs that had been fumigated before setting.
The Department issues certification based on a declaration from the exporter that the day-old chickens were hatched from eggs that had been fumigated before setting.
- The day-old chickens have been hatched from hatchers that were disinfected or fumigated before use.
The Department issues certification based on a declaration from the operator of the premises that the day-old chickens were hatched from hatchers that were disinfected or fumigated before use.
- The day-old chickens have been placed into new packaging for export and have had no contact with any other birds besides day-old chickens.
The Department issues certification based on a declaration from the exporter that the day-old chickens were packed in new packaging and have had no contact with any birds besides day-old chickens.
- Hatching (fertile) eggs
- The hatching eggs are from accredited Salmonella pullorum-free flocks.
The Department issues certification based on a document from the State or Territory Veterinary authority identifying that the hatching eggs are from accredited Salmonella pullorum-free flocks.
OR
- The donor flocks from which the hatching eggs were produced have been tested for Salmonella Pullorum by serum agglutination testing at least twice in the 6 months prior to export, including once within 30 days of export.
