Importing country requirements
It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.
There are no agreed conditions for the export of poultry day old chickens or hatching eggs from Australia to the Republic of the Philippines.
A Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Import Certificate/VQC from the Republic of the
Philippines’ Department of Agriculture (Bureau of Animal Industry) is required and is the equivalent of an import permit.

Health requirements
Health certification
There are no agreed conditions or health certificate for this commodity. The information below is intended as a guide only.
Exporters must obtain a Veterinary Quarantine Clearance (VQC) with attached import health requirements from the Philippines’ Government.
Certifying officers must review the import permit(s) and conditions provided by the exporter and ensure that the issued document(s) are consistent with the permit.

- Permits for day old chicks or hatching eggs destined to Philippines may include Salmonella freedom accreditation requirements and fumigation requirements that may not be available in Australia. In these cases, a dispensation or new permit may be required for the consignment to proceed.
As importing country requirements may change without advice to the Department, you should check the import permit and/or the country website
Philippines’ Department of Agriculture (Bureau of Animal Industry) carefully at the time of preparation for export.
Certifying officers must review the import permit(s), any conditions provided by the exporter, the website of the importing authority, and ensure that the issued document(s) are consistent with the permit(s).
I, Dr ……………………………………………, a duly authorised government veterinary officer, hereby certify that:
- Day-old chickens
- The day-old chickens are free of any signs of infectious and contagious disease.
- The day-old chickens have been hatched from eggs from accredited Salmonella pullorum-free flocks and have not been exposed to dangerous communicable animal diseases for 60 days (an accredited Salmonella pullorum-free farm is one in which
all birds over four months are tested with whole blood agglutination test with negative results. Random sampling should be carried out thereafter to ensure the Salmonella pullorum-free status. Bacterial culture for Salmonella pullorum when needed, should be carried out using approved methods).
Note Salmonella pullorum-free accreditation requirements for day old chicks and hatching eggs destined to the Philippines may not be met by State or Territory accreditation programs.
- There has been no evidence of disease due to fowl plague (HPAI or notifiable low pathogenicity avian influenza), Newcastle disease, avian encephalomyelitis, avian leucosis, Marek's disease, infectious bursal disease or any infectious and contagious disease on the farm of origin in the six months prior to export.
- The day-old chickens have been hatched in an incubator in which no eggs from fumigated flocks have been introduced and hatched, and the incubator is fumigated or disinfected prior to setting and hatchingfrom eggs that had been fumigated before setting.
Note that farm fumigation procedures in Australia may not meet this requirement.
- The day-old chickens are packed direct from the incubator into have been placed into new boxespackaging for export and have had no contact with any other birds other than the besides day-old chickens.
- Hatching (fertile) eggs
- The hatching eggs are from accredited Salmonella pullorum-free flocks and from known duck virus hepatitis-free flocks.
Note Salmonella pullorum-free accreditation requirements for day old chicks and hatching eggs destined to the Philippines may not be met by State or Territory accreditation programs.
