Importing country requirements

It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements. Additional ​information to assist exporters with how to prepare reproductive material for export is available on the Department’s website.

A Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Import Certificate/ VQC from the Republic of the Philippines' Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Animal Industry is required and is the equivalent of an import permit.

Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.

Health requirements

Health certification

The health requirements given in this entry are a guide only, based on conditions commonly found on the Philippines' import permits.

As importing country healt​​h requirements may change without advice to the Department you should check the import permit and/or the country’s website carefully at the time of preparation for export.

Health certificate

The semen must be accompanied by a health certificate issued by a government veterinary officer and endorsed by the Department. The health certificate should state:

I, Dr ………………………………………….., a duly authorised government veterinary officer, hereby certify that:

  1. Australia is free from Foot and Mouth Disease, African Swine Fever, Hog Cholera, Vesicular Stomatitis, Teschen Disease, Aujeszky's Disease and Transmissible Gastroenteritis.
  2. The semen is derived from animals kept in an artificial insemination centre approved by the Department and supervised by an authorised government veterinary officer.
  3. The semen is derived from animals kept in the AI centre for at least two (2) months prior to collection.
  4. During the six (6) months prior to semen collection, the AI centre has been free of clinical signs of: Leptospirosis, Porcine Parvovirus, Atrophic Rhinitis, Vibrionic Dysentry, Swine Influenza and Erysipelas.
  5. The AI centre has been free of Brucellosis and Tuberculosis for the last twelve (12) months.
  6. The semen was collected from boars that showed no clinical signs of contagious diseases on the date of semen collection.
  7. The boars in the AI centre have been tested negative with the following test within six (6) months prior to collection:

    1. a) Brucella suis - Standard Tube Test or Standard Plate Test
    2. b) Leptospirosis - Microtiter Agglutination Test (MAT) or two (2) injections of Dihydrostreptomycin or an approved antibiotic at 25mg/kg with a 10 - 14 day interval between treatments

  8. ​The container in which the semen is to be transported was sealed using seals bearing the marks: XXXXXX
